Fox and I are heading out today to pick up an item he's had on order, but also because he likes watching Black Friday craziness. That whole thing with Black Friday seems to be turning into a thing of the past. I never particularly cared for it - there's not a single material item on this planet that I want badly enough to run the risk of getting trampled for. And sometimes the massive crowds can really make me feel overwhelmed and irritable.
We may also head over to the St Johns river and take some drone footage of the old Shands Bridge. They're about to start building a new one downriver, and it'll have an arch to allow shipping traffic that will match the one on the Buckman, as well as protected bike and pedestrian lanes. And from the drafts I've seen online, they're actually protected from the car traffic, not just "we'll paint a white line here and drivers will definitely respect that and not kill you LOL." Getting into biking and electric scooters has exacerbated my existing dislike for cars, as if running weren't bad enough with the way some people behave behind the wheel.
We're registered for the Gate River Run in March. I was reading through the site yesterday because we were already thinking about doing it, and I found that both Fox and I have recently run race times that allow us to apply for the first wave of runners. I don't know yet where we'll be placed, since they say as each wave fills up, people will get moved to the next one. But this is the first time I've had results good enough to submit for placement. I also got to register as non-binary? Like ... REALLY? OMG. I understand why racing groups are gendered, but it hurt a little every time I had to mark "female." I'm pretty stoked about it but I'm sure there's plenty of bitchiness, too.
Why the hell is it so hot today. Oh yeah, Florida.
