Toe Beans

I feel like my toenails should be doing something by now, instead of just being a weird color and hurting sometimes. One continues to slowly detach while the other is just ... there? I trimmed more excess nail off the ends and filed them down more, so that's helped. Yesterday my silicone toe caps came, but they were here after my morning run, so when I tried putting them on with shoes and socks, everything just HURT.

Tried again today and the toe caps work quite well. I bought some specifically for big toes. They're kind of satiny and smooth on the outside, but the insides are more sticky-feeling. I spread the silicone out and put the tip over the end of my toe, then roll the rest down and it feels pretty good. They keep a steady downward pressure on the nails, but also protect the already-angry skin from being aggravated by the toe seams in my socks. The stickiness I mentioned means they don't twist or shift around when you walk.

Searching some blogs and Reddits about trail and ultra running, it seems this is such a common condition that I'll probably be dealing with it more in the future. I'm probably just anxious about it because this is my first time having this kind of toe injury. Most of the advice is "if it doesn't hurt, or it doesn't hurt too much, just keep running. Maybe put antibiotic ointment on it if you need to."

In theory I'd be running Space Coast today but obviously, that ain't happening.

We got our weekly errands out of the way this morning and now I need to go mix up some bread dough. It's just hot and icky and I hate the fact that this is supposed to be fall. It's 77. Why. I think I'm also a little cranky because I need to eat some lunch. Actually I need to meal prep but I am not doing that today. I've got some prep to do for our dinners this week, including making a slab of chasu pork, so I might take a quarter of the block and whip up some stir-fry bowls for myself.

I'm still playing Axiom Verge 2, and I feel like an idiot for admitting this, but I just now discovered that I can switch between maps. I have no idea how I missed this before. If I'm in the Breach, I can switch to the Overworld map and see exactly where I'd be if I came out, and vice-versa. It is amazingly handy, and again, no idea how I didn't notice the button on the screen saying "next map RT." DERP.

Someone please explain to my brain why I should not be buying a fat bike right now. Brain really wants a fat tire bike and will not shut up about it.
