pshaw_ravenThis morning I finished one of my books about Michel de Montaigne, and actually started reading his Essays. I'm also a little over 100 pages into The Mahabharata, and I'm past some of the more confusing setup chapters. I'm now at the point where the "snake sacrifice" is going to happen and the king of the snakes is very worried about it. And if I'm not mistaken, the rest of the tale is something told AT the sacrifice. The translator has been very good about footnoting, so when someone is referred to using an epithet, he notes who is being talked about, and often, why they're called that. I still feel like I could benefit from some scholarly works about this, though.
In gaming, I'm still playing the first installment of Kingdom Hearts, and while it shows its age in a lot of ways, it is an enjoyable experience, and I'm looking forward to playing the rest of the series. But the last few days, I've been comfort-gaming the Ori games again. They play well on my Steam Deck.
I have been doing a little drawing and writing, but I'm also tired a lot lately. I feel like I can't sleep as well as I used to, and it makes me fretful. I don't feel like running, but I know I need to, and I'm about to just forget about it until July and go back into a base-building phase, since I don't have any major races this fall and winter.
Fox passed his FAA exam to get his pilot's license! Now we're waiting on them to process the application, which involves a background check. No idea how long that will take, but for him it shouldn't be an issue, as he needs to maintain a security clearance for his job. He can log onto the website and see his progress in the system, though, so once he's approved, he'll see his ID number and all, then later on he'll get the plastic card in the mail.
UPDATE! While I was writing this, they updated his application, and he's been granted a temporary certificate, which means he's approved. He's a Flying Fox now :D
I got out early this morning and mowed the grass. All the rain lately has got it growing really fast. Tomorrow I'll start weed whacking, and probably just do that until 9:30 or so when it gets too hot.
