Just Some Things Going On

- After wrangling my digital tablet and getting it working, I found yesterday it wasn't responding to the pen. It turned out that the pen's battery was just low. LOL. Back to drawing, finally. :D

- I'm writing up my 25-ish-years later response to re-reading Lonesome Dove. I'll post that here when it's done.

- Fox is taking his pilot's license exam tomorrow! He's going for a recreational drone pilot license, but this will allow him to legally sell video footage, fly in more areas, and use his drone in business settings. For example, he'll be able to fly it to inspect the radio towers for FastNet.

- I started studying to get my ham radio license. Fox suggested I also teach myself Linux so I can use software-based radios, so I may do that, too.

Oh, that's so exciting for Fox! How long has he been flying a drone? I've thought about getting a cheap one to just mess around with to get aerial shots of my house.

He bought the drone about two years ago and has been flying it around locally. They're not difficult to learn to use, but I haven't really tried it yet, I'm usually the "spotter." Someone's supposed to always have their eyes on it. I think you can do without the license if you're just going to be around your own home. It's really interesting to see things from that perspective!

Linux is very useful to learn. I ran it for awhile on my PC, but with heavy support from a roomie who was well versed in it. He made it run all sorts of PC software not designed for it; quite the clever fellow!
