Smoke detector went off again this morning.
Power just went out.
Update: Power wasn't out long. We used to have blips like that all the time, but not so much recently, so it surprised me.
Fox says there may be a physical problem with my office smoke detector and we should probably just replace it. It did try to "cascade" the alert to the other detectors but only got the living room one. So it sounds to him like the device is glitchy. We're probably going to head into town this afternoon to pick one up, and get a sheet of thick plywood to help stabilize the elliptical.
Anyway, sun's out guns out. Gotta go run no matter how bad I feel because Space Coast is December 1.
I read something interesting about slow marathoners like myself. I always hear the thing about how much it takes to run "that long," while the better runners are finishing in three or four hours and I'm dragging my carcass across the finish line in five. Treat your racing and training like an ultra. Train for "time on feet." Treat the race like an eating contest with a running component. I already know I can run a long time - I've done a couple of ultra distance runs for shits & giggles (and pizza).
I'm considering doing something this February. Last year I decided to run to a particular Wawa, and did so. Fox has been interested in a 24-hour challenge, where you leave your house and see how far you can get walking and running in a single 24 hour period. I'm thinking of doing a 12-hour run challenge. Leave here at like ... six am maybe, and just see how far I can go. I'd need to decide on a route - north towards Jax? East, to the ocean? Hmm.
