In my office, untidy office,
The lion sleeps toniiiiight

Feisal napping inside a lion-themed kitty tent in my messy office, surrounded by running shoes and who-knows-what else

I decided to start doing some of my own metabolism tracking with an eye to maintaining or improving body heat, all that stuff. To that end I was just looking for a decent basal thermometer, as you're supposed to take your temps before you even get out of bed in the morning. Little did I know, women doing cycle tracking and natural pregnancy stuff also use these things and I get the sinking feeling my search results are going to be fucked up for weeks. Like way worse than the time Amazon thought I had a kid because I was shopping for cute lunch boxes. Yes, I'm a grown-ass adult. Yes, I want a lunch box with a kitty on it. Go pound sand.

I need to get outside and pick up around the base of the radio tower. Fox got his battery backup system sorted out yesterday, and he dug out some of the loose/unconnected copper wire that isn't tied into the grounding, so I can pick up broken bricks and stuff and weed-whack. Why are there all those broken bricks and stuff, anyway? Were we trying to keep weeds down?

We got to Disney on Wednesday but that's just a set-up day. We typically visit with Fox's parents, then get to Fort Wilderness and set up the camper, and we don't do much else to speak of. We mainly don't want to set up the camper in the dark if we can help it. Thursday was a blackout day for our passes, so we noodled around other places.

We got our awning and stuff up that morning and I'll get some pics later. We've changed how we use the inside of the camper, too, so it's less cluttered and crowded. It's an ongoing learning process. Anyway, we're right at the bus stop which is going to be nice for race morning. I thought it would be more annoying here, with the bathrooms next door, too, but I haven't noticed.

Yesterday we went to Disney Springs for pizza and then decided to go look for a Publix to buy some camp food - namely a bag of the fancy sauerkraut we like, since I haven't been making my own as much lately. We ended up in Celebration, which is Disney's planned community. It's a really attractive little area, but I imagine their HOA is on steroids and I would not want to deal with it. Especially since as soon as someone tells me shit like, "You need to mow your grass more frequently, it's too long, and your mailbox isn't painted an acceptable color" I go full Contrarian and will do any and everything in my power to NOT comply. I was probably a fun child to raise.

Anyway the upshot of all this is this.
A power pylon carrying high voltage lines. The pylon is in the shape of Mickey Mouse's head with two smaller circles on top of a larger one.

Yeah, that's an electrical pylon shaped like Mickey Mouse! Fox has been meaning to show me this thing for years, but they built a freeway flyover lane and it blocks the normal view he was used to. But as we were exploring the Celebration area and found this "retro 50's" looking Publix, we pulled around behind the store and ... there it was. If you're curious about it, here's an article from Atlas Obscura.

I'm trying to actually add descriptions to my pics for folks using screen readers, so if my text is confusing or my descriptions are bad please don't hesitate to comment and let me know.

Saturday morning, Fox and I decided to drive up to Keystone and check out one of the State Trails. There weren't many people out on it, and the weather was terrific - cool and overcast. So we boked from Keystone Heights to where the trail crosses highway 100 and back, which is about 5.7 miles, but I paused my Fitbit at one point and forgot to re-start it, so I only got half credit. It was great riding on a paved surface - I still weave and wobble a little but riding on these trails seems like a good way to build confidence. Later we got matcha lattes and a good time was had by all.

Keystone Heights is the location of one of the Moon Trees.

As you can see it's a pretty normal looking sycamore, but the seed it sprouted from went to the moon on Apollo 14. There are a lot of these around the country, mostly in the south and west since those were the species of seeds the Forestry Service sent up. You can read more about them here but as the page isn't up to date, I should let you know that the tree at Kennedy Space Center was blown over and killed in a hurricane a couple of years ago.

There is also a nice bike station in town.

It has air, sets of tools, and rack for parking. Since it's located next to a drugstore and a couple of eateries it's a pretty good location and it looks like it's well maintained.

And I didn't get a photo but there was a friendly tortoiseshell kitty who lives along the trail. She even has her own "Cat X-ing" sign.

Beyond that we haven't been up to much. Fox has been fixing the RAM in my desktop computer since I almost blew it up working on a large painting the other day. I also didn't realize Painter has a "rotate reset" that will return your image to whatever it's original orientation was, so that could have saved me a panic attack. :P The computer runs much better now and while it's a little slow saving, running the art programs is fine.

Kind of a slow morning. I bought a Humble Bundle of graphics software and it's all downloading and installing as I type - these are massive files and once they're downloaded, the software wants to install more stuff. I've been at this for about an hour now but it'll be worth it once it's all finished. I'm not going to be replacing Clip Studio with Corel. I picked CSP for its manga capabilities and will still be using it to do my comics, but these other programs will let me paint and draw, fiddle with photos, make logos and such. Hey, now I can start editing the fucking tourists out of my Disney photos :D (seriously, I have a great shot of Spaceship Earth just after an evening thunderstorm but there are all these goddamn people wandering around)

Speaking of art, I need some for my studio. Kitty had this poster from a Mesa Verde event in 2004, but I don't really have any connection to the Southwest or the Native Americans there and I'd like to replace it with something else. I have some Florida Space Coast posters that are done in old-school travel poster style that I might get frames for. They'd look pretty cool in here.

I'm excited to use my new software but man, downloading and installing is boring, LOL. I think I'm going to make more coffee and put some music on. I haven't been much in a music mood lately, I'm enjoying silence more and not needing the distraction of sound.
