I took a selfie with Jeff Galloway!

We're back from Wine & Dine which actually went quite well for us. The weather was decent and no one's leg fell off or anything. I ran with Fox on both the 10k and half marathon and we kept things at an easy pace. He was scraping the bottom of the barrel towards the end of the half, but he did well for someone who hasn't been able to train. The leg pain didn't bother him too much, but we've figured out that part of his problem is how he "perches" in his desk chair at home. There's no good way to solve that problem aside from simply breaking the habit, so if I notice him sitting like that I'm supposed to nag him about it. He feels more confident now for Space Coast, but he's said he'll be doing a lot of walking on that one, and I should run my own race there. Space Coast is December 1, so I have a few more weeks to finish getting my mileage up there.

I'm not running today, mainly because I have a ton of things to do around here to get us back to normal. Laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping, and just ... stuff. You know how it is.

There were a lot of Sandhill Cranes around. I kept seeing pairs of them in fields, flying over and calling, just ... lots of them. It was nice. I also heard an Owl while we were camping, but it's so warm here we shut the house back up and turned on the AC. Maybe next week it'll cool off again. In the meantime I'll be needing to get out early to run, since lows aren't dropping out of the 70s.

A couple of links for you as well:
10 Things to Do If Trump Wins under the idea of "hope for the best but prepare for the worst."

How To Not Freak Out, a skill I have not mastered myself. My central nervous system responds to everything like it's DEFCON 1. I mean, it's getting better but I've been conditioned to expect disaster at every turn and it's taking time to unlearn that response.

And I don't know if anyone else has been interested in this, but the internet's "most mysterious song" has been identified. Apparently the band that originally recorded it are now considering a reunion to re-record the now famous track.

I'm not surprised at all Harris hasn't conceded yet (and she has no constitutional obligation to do so, just as Trump didn't back in 2020), and I could very easily imagine her highly contesting the results just as Gore did in 2000, maybe incite race riots in Blue states and cities, and their respective leaders would let them raise hell. I could also imagine Mayor Bowser putting DC under lockdown to prevent Trump and Vance from getting there in the first place, maybe even hold GOP politicians hostage there and raise equal hell there.

Yeah, I definitely think America needs a uniform voting system, regardless of state so that none of them are jacking over the legitimate voters. Where I live, they require ID to vote (and for me, preventing people trying to vote illegally and trying to rig elections is very far from the same thing as "discrimination," let alone "racism," and I very much believe "one person, one vote"), require passcodes to the voting machines, and have printed hard paper ballots that I assume they have (or will have) hand-counted. Though as Joseph Stalin said, "The people who vote decide nothing; the people who count the votes decide everything." Regardless of who wins, though, I think there will be some kind of political crisis given America's cold civil war.
