The Space Coast marathon is done and over with until December next year. While I didn't hit my finishing goal, I did set a new PR at 5:09:33. I was hoping to get under five hours, but I am much closer to that now, so another year of training might get me to it. I also can't exactly recommend following Garmin's "suggested workouts" for a long race like this, but it did help me build a lot of speed. It's great for up to the half marathon, but for the full, I'm going to be cobbling together my own plan using suggested workouts and stuff I've picked up from other training plans over the years.

A little while back I bought a weight vest, and I've been doing some workouts with it. No running, but I'll either take a four mile walk with it, or do some workouts that combine wearing the vest and carrying extra weight, or doing stuff like squats in it. I probably should "invest" in a GoRuck pack - all the backpacks I own right now are either fancy Loungefly packs I wear at Disney, or they're very small like the Osprey Daylite I carry like a purse. A bigger rucking pack could do day hikes, rucks, short trips, etc. I'm just having a hard time talking myself into spending the money. Though it's even more tempting since learning GoRuck is based here in Jacksonville. And carrying a real pack is probably better prep for the Florida Trail than using my weight vest.

I've had a busy morning and now I'm just sitting around spacing out. And browsing rucking packs, LOL.

And my mom just texted me to ask what I want for Christmas. Every year we do the same thing - neither of us has any idea what we want. :D Maybe I'll ask for something like a Bookshop.org gift card. Books are always welcome. I've been reading some of the Repairman Jack novels but I'm getting a little burnt out on thrillers.

My family and I have taken to buying one another gift cards for over a decade or so, and I don't mind, since I really don't know anyone in my immediate family well enough to buy them specific things.
