From his writing, I think he was aware that asexuality exists, but then in the same breath he'd return to his pet thesis that his subject was gay. I think it is important to acknowledge when someone struggled with their identity, but it feels intellectually dishonest to take what the man himself said and then just sort of steamroll him and say, well obviously that wasn't the case.
I mean, I was under the impression Gorey was asexual as well, so I was trying to personally check myself and make sure I wasn't the one misreading things, LOL!
