Ack, I grew up a huge Holmes nerd, too! The Grenada series with Jeremy Brett played every Sunday alongside Poirot and I was ALWAYS parked in front of the TV for them. I got the complete Holmes at a garage sale and would NOT stop reading them, then I got some old Basil Rathbone (movies? specials? I can't remember) on VHS and devoured those, too!
But I've never heard of Solar Pons, and *that* sounds like something I'd really love! I'll have to check it out
