Apparently pines have some pretty hefty taproots. We are clearing some space where we want to put in solar panels (the roof isn't rated for them, so they have to go on the ground) and we've had stumps/roots that we've tried everything except dynamite on. One stump we dug out to a depth of about six feet and then set it on fire.
It does look sort of like that - I want to leave the jar outside so it doesn't stink up the joint, but then I don't want some random person seeing it outside and calling the cops.
