Book Gnomes

I needed a day off and Fox encouraged me to go spend some of the ridiculous amounts of store credit I have at Chamblin Bookmine. I think I spent a good two hours there just happily digging through the shelves. In some places they've actually started trying to organize and clean things up, possibly after a photo of the piles of books spilling off a shelf labeled "Feng Shui" made it onto the "Mildly Infuriating" subreddit. LOL maybe not, I don't know, I'm just a customer.



Click to enlarge, of course. I would have bought more but I was getting tired and wanted to start heading home, plus this is quite a stack to be carrying around. I should probably take a bag with me next time. 

So I feel rather better. I have a stack of happy new books to paw at, got to spend a fun, quiet afternoon out, and I feel ready to get back to my regular routine.

Nice!!

I still haven't made it to a bookstore I've saved on Google Maps in another town. [We don't have crap where I live other than Barnes & Noble.]

However, I've been catching up on my Kindle, which has been nice.

I installed the Kindle app on my Chromebook and phone after a friend gifted me an ebook off my Amazon wishlist. I found the interface wasn't annoying and the experience was much improved over a Nook I had in 2010. I also sometimes use Google Books which is somewhat more minimal but also nice. So I'm starting to read ebooks more often - it's about to get a lot more useful now that the county library has an ebook program.

I don't mind B&N, mainly because they've actually been a decent bookstore in the past. Plus there's usually a Starbucks in them, and I find there isn't much that can't be fixed with a big cup of hot coffee.

Chamblin Bookmine used to have a sign out front that said, "Used, Rare, and Non-Existent Books" but someone sent a photo to Jay Leno, he made fun of it on TV, and they took it down. :(

It took me a while to warm up to the Kindle but now I love it!

I enjoy B&N; I just like variety lol.

I can see how that sign would be fodder for a comedian lol. I used to love his Headlines segment.
