I'm doing it for sort of the same reason - the TBR pile is getting unwieldy. I actually came up with a good motivation to stay on top of my comics, AND not go crazy not buying books, which is that for X number of pages of comics completed I'm allowed a book from my Amazon wishlist. I'm still considering whether to set that at ten or twenty pages.
