For the last few months we've been having a standoff between Blue Cross Blue Shield and Baptist Health System over money. Apparently BCBS is doing this in a lot of places, claiming they need to be paid more so that they can maximize profits to their shareholders help more people. Yesterday was the deadline and they actually came to some sort of agreement, we found out this morning. A "multi-year agreement," too, so hopefully we won't have to listen to this whining piss-baby bullshit again for a while. Anyway, it means I still have a doctor.

Whatever they decided, I'm guessing BCBS didn't want to piss off 60,000 people, and Baptist didn't want to lose 60,000 patients, and mutually assured destruction started looking like a bad option.

I was busy yesterday so today I need to do an interval run - 10 minutes at threshold pace with short walk breaks in between. The Penney Farms 5k is Saturday, and after that I need to take a week off working out altogether so I can have blood panels done. I know my GP doesn't think muscle breakdown is why my liver enzymes are always "high," so I'm doing this more for my own benefit to see if that's it. Which it likely is. None of the more detailed bloodwork or imaging showed any problems and the specialist I saw didn't think there was any need to worry, but I know my doctor is a stickler for numbers. And it was through this kind of experimenting that I found even though black coffee or tea doesn't typically cause blood glucose to rise, it does that to some people, including me. If I go in with nothing but water in my system, I get readings in the 80s, but if I have a cup of black coffee or two, no matter how much water I drink to offset it, I'll get readings between 100-110.

Kinda want to sit down and write today but I'm not sure when I'll get a block of time to do it. After my run, Fox will be leaving for his PT appointment, and I need to do some maintenance on the cat's litterbox area - namely pulling up the litter mats and cleaning the carpet underneath, dumping the old litter, and wiping the walls down. The walls aren't really dirty, just dusty from the litter.

I also found that I'm back to consistently undereating for my activity level. Derp. Much as I hate to eat when I'm not hungry, I also don't enjoy feeling like ass on a long run. I restarted my MFP account to keep track of that for a while, monitor my protein intake, etc.

The county animal shelter got together with the library and had a pop-up cat cafe (and adoption event obvs) recently. I missed it but hopefully they'll do it again. I told Fox we need to get a kitten from them and name it Dewey, and he groaned.
