Mar. 29th, 2023 08:39 amA front moved through the area last night and brought some needed rain along with cooler temps. We can continue having cool spells off and on, and last year I believe it was May before we shut the house up and turned on the AC "for good," until October. It will make it nice outside as I'm doing more yard work.
The north side of the house has always been a bit rough, and I've undertaken the project of cutting and trimming a lot of the undergrowth around the trees. There are several small oaks and a stand of saw palmetto. The general idea is that once I cut down the brush, Fox can shape and level the ground with the tractor, and then we can scatter grass seed. Flattening it out will allow us to pull the camper into the back and get it to its shed, where it can live out of the weather when we're not using it. I do plan to let the saw palmetto stay, as it blocks a view of the back area from anyone who happens to pull up in the driveway.
I may try to do a short run this afternoon since it will not be as hot. I figure if I start hurting again I can walk home. I'm setting the distance at three miles, which won't even take me to the blacktop. I had some minor twinges in my shins, but it felt more like the type of mild aches I get when any major atmospheric pressure change occurs. I'm starting to get a bit stir-crazy but I also know I don't need to push myself right now. I'm not David Goggins, and I have no intention of wrapping duck tape around a tube sock so I can run on fractured legs.
On a helpful note, I was reminded of this article from Outside on "How To Weaponize Your Inner Monologue." And if you're in need of some off-the-charts cuteness, here's a tiny Sphinx kitten.
