A Green Way

I ended up having to call my doctor's office several times. I don't know what was up yesterday, but I got through, started to ask my question ... and got hung up on. Wow. Today I finally got someone who explained that my doc likes to do as much as he can electronically, so he's sent in the lab orders already, and unless I just really want them, they don't mail out paper lab orders any more. Which is fine by me, I just need to be told this stuff. So I rescheduled everything, nabbed a spot at the local lab, and that's out of the way. Plus I'm getting all this in before Gate River Run, so my blood values won't be borked by an intense run and possibly a lot more sugary food than I'd normally eat.

The lab now asks about your gender and sexual identity. I answered it truthfully, though this being Florida, I'm not sure that's a great idea.

In more positive news, there are plans to build more greenway or walking trail, or whatever you'd like to call it. About five and a half miles up the road from me, at Gold Head Branch, there's a spur of the Palatka-Lake Butler Trail. It just ends right there at the park entrance, but it's a great place to run because it's separated from the highway traffic. People can't just drift over and hit you, they have to actively be trying to kill you. The plans are in place now to extend that trail into Middleburg, possibly through or around Jennings State Forest, and all the way to Cecil Field, where it can join up to trails in Duval County. Having a protected running and biking trail that close to home is going to be amazing. It looks like most of the funding is in place and they're just finalizing the exact paths before getting started. Obviously it will take a while to complete but I'm excited and happy. After Gate, I'm pondering taking a few weeks off running entirely and doing some biking on the Lake Butler Trail and around Gold Head. I feel like I need to go out and bike by myself to develop any real skill with it.

The Castlevania DLC for Dead Cells is being released on March 6. I'm hopeful that they'll offer a bundle deal on their DLC at that point, though each module is three or four bucks on its own. Castlevania is supposed to be ten, but it's also supposed to be a fairly massive set of new areas, items, and costumes, with a new soundtrack and all that. Either way I'm going to pick up all the extras. I don't see much coming out soon that I really want. Selini hasn't even gotten their Kickstarter going yet. Little Nemo is good about posting updates, so I've played the most recent demo, and he sent out the questionnaires to backers like me who are getting their pets immortalized in the planetarium as constellations. I explained this to Crowley, who does not seem to appreciate that he's going to be in a video game.

I really need to go do some meal prep but I feel lazy. And anxious to boot, because of needing to deal with doctor's office stuff and talk to people.
