Limping Along
Jun. 24th, 2021 11:42 amFor a boring week, it sure is an interesting week.
I had to forgo running this week to allow some tendinitis to calm down. The extensor tendons - the ones on top of the foot - are inflamed and hurty, usually the result of my tendency to tie my running shoes too tightly. Before, it's come and gone without my needing to do much, but this time around, ignoring it wasn't fixing the problem, so I decided to take a break and let the foot heal. Better to do it now than further into my half marathon training. And, RunDisney announced that Marathon Weekend 2022 will happen, so I have that to look forward to! All the more reason to get the foot back into good condition.
It's mostly healed now so I may try taking a walk tomorrow and see how that goes. It'll allow me to pick up some trash, too. Then if it still feels okay Friday morning, a short run. I've already re-laced my running shoes with a "ladder" style to take pressure off those tendons and started trying to teach myself a different knot, since the traditional granny knot tends to slip, and that unlacing is the reason I tie mine so tightly to begin with. I mean, I even dreamed about running last night. Ugh, time off sucks.
So the dishwasher died. Not ... completely, but it finally became useless. We had this fancy Samsung for a few years. It started hanging at certain points in its cycles - usually during rinsing. It would be at 31 minutes or 41 minutes, always one of those times, and it would just continue like that until you manually stopped it. I found this out when I set it to run before bed and found it still running the next morning. Being a fancy one, there wasn't much we could do to troubleshoot it - it's the sort of thing where they just want you to buy a new one. So we did. A much more basic Whirlpool that is very similar to the one we had for fifteen years prior to this. The cats have been greatly amused by the enormous new box, too.
I just finished up mowing my yard and my neighbor's. I got her trimming done as well but I started hearing thunder booming, so I wrapped up things for now. I still need to trim my yard, but the battery packs for the trimmer can charge, I can chill out for a while, and even if I don't get it until tomorrow, it doesn't matter. Neither of us is trying to get on the cover of Better Homes & Gardens. ;D
