pshaw_raven: (All Work No Play)
The last of my birthday stuff came in - the dhoti pants, a crow skull necklace from Carolyn and books I ordered with the B&N giftcard Gina sent. The necklace got packed up with a bunch of childhood shit, so. Yay?

And now that Fox knows about it, I can't throw it away. It's all elementary school stuff, report cards, honor roll stuff, and worst of all, class photos. Holy shit I was an ugly child. If you've ever wondered why I don't believe anyone who compliments my appearance, it's because growing up I was ugly as homemade sin. Uglier than a sack full of assholes. And it didn't help that I had little to no input on how I was dressed, so I had those horrible huge 80s glasses and frilly clothes. And the permed hair. Jesus Jones. It deepened my aversion to "fussy" clothing, all that stuff with buttons and ribbons and bows and shit. Who the hell enjoys dealing with all that stuff?

Fox was actually very kind about that. He told me later that I "aged up very well."

Anyway, I'm not as bad as I was two years ago, when I would actually go do errands in pajamas and give exactly zero fucks. If I seem like I care more about how I look, it's because being at a smaller weight/size means I have more options now. So I can start dressing in ways that fit my personal aesthetic because of the magic combination of size, money, and internet. The other day I ordered a ... dress. Yep. It's a hoodie dress, so it's really a giant sweatshirt, but it'll look cool with leggings. (it's also black, surprise surprise) Being able to poke around online means I find clothes I actually really like that I'd never find locally.

Fox also took the opportunity to tease me about, "So do you want to go to your high school reunion now?" I couldn't say "hell no" quickly enough.

Anyway, I picked up the second volume of Punpun, Mostly Void, Partially Stars, and a novel I've been meaning to read since it was first published, House of Leaves. My TBR pile has gone from a pile of books to a two-shelf cabinet of books. Oh woe is me, so many books to read. ;D

I'm trying to convince my friend Dee that he needs a Dreamwidth. He's developed a deep, smoldering hate for LiveJournal. I'm also thinking of starting an aesthetic Tumblr for Muna - the world I set my comics and stories in. I have a massive file of reference and inspirational images relating to Munan dress, landscape, animals, and general feel. It might be fun, who knows.
