Garden Invaders
Jul. 5th, 2017 09:18 amI have leaf-footed bug nymphs on my tomatoes. I'll be handling that little problem this evening, but today is my shopping day. I'll also be picking up these cool trellis things at Home Depot. You get a package of three stakes and six crossbars, and from there you set them up in any way you need. I'm going to be acquiring four packs and making a # shape to support the tomatoes, many of which are on the ground right now under the weight of their fruit. I staked up the squash and they're finally producing blooms again. I foresee a great deal of zucchini bread in my future.
Oh, and if you have summer squash plants, don't forget August 8!
Actually I'll be making two of those hashtag/sharp notations end to end to support all the tomatoes. I just wish I could figure out a good temporary shade for that part of the garden - the sun is burning the tops of some of the plants.
The fireworks weren't too bad out here last night. Some guy started Saturday night - I can only imagine how much money he spent on all the stuff he blew up. But I was tired and fell asleep around ten-ish and the fireworks were not even as noticeable as some thunderstorms we've had. I roasted some spareribs in the oven and they were really good. The dry rub was a bit underwhelming; it needed more cayenne and tasted a bit flat. But the meat was incredibly tender. Now today for some reason I'm craving chicken tacos with cilantro.
Oh well, I guess I should get dressed and go do some "peopleing."
