Today I hauled the seasonal clothing boxes out of the closet and dug out the tops I'll likely need/want for Tokyo. Forecasted highs will be around 65-70 and lows will be around 45-50. That's in "freedom units," and I'm not sure what it is in Celsius like the rest of the world uses. But it's cool enough that I'll be happy to have my Zox hoodie, and I'll be able to wear some of my long-sleeved shirts. We have a pretty narrow window in Florida for this sort of thing, but like an idiot, every time I see a sweater coat I like I buy it, so now I have four of the things and literally maybe two months to wear them. There are a lot of festivals going on while we'll be there, including what looks like pretty regular shrine "yard sales," a used book festival (!!!!!), and a of course all the Halloween fun. Taking anything to dress up in isn't the best use of my luggage space so I may just take some of my furry con clip-on kitty ears.

Of course everything I picked out needs laundering because it smells like plastic storage tubs. Eyyww.

The lady who's cat-sitting will be walking through next week. Not that the routine is very difficult but I'll show her where the cat boxes are (and we'll set out two extras since she'll only be coming in once a day) and where the food is stored. I'll also show her the Cookie Can, which she can shake to hopefully actually SEE some of the cats. Crowley and Sheba may not ever come out for her, even with bribes of treats, but she should be able to make friends with Feisal and Nana. If she really thinks she can do it, I'll show her Baby Sheba's canned food routine, but I have serious doubts that Sheba will come out of hiding, even for gooshy food.

I also started following some stationary stores on Instagram so I know where most of my extra spending money is going to go. Japan is a pen-and-paper lover's paradise, and I almost feel dumb taking my own journal, but I'll be starting a new notebook next week and I don't want to be without something to write in while we actually travel there. Between bento junk, Converse All-Stars, and paper, my ass is gonna be broke. Yeah, I love those Chuck Taylor sneakers. I have three pairs already, but Japan has special ones! They do - there's a katakana model I really want - all the labeling and everything is written in katakana, even the heel tag. Sweet.

Slightly off the topic of this post but there were just three crows in my yard, poking around at some dry corn I feed the squirrels and deer with. I wanted to get pictures but this one squirrel - we affectionately refer to his dumb ass as "Tank," - actually ran them off. What a dick! Anyway it was great to see crows again - I haven't had them come around since April.
