Florida Woman Stopped From Driving into Thousands of 5K Turkey Trotters - she was apparently angry about ... not being able to drive where she wanted. This is almost on the heels of the incident on the Sunshine Bridge where a drunk woman was attempting to drive onto the 10k course and an officer literally used her cruiser to stop her. The dashcam footage is hair-raising.

Nonbinary Athlete Inclusion and Acceptance in Running Riley got a Golden Ticket! Their 100 mile time is AMAZING. Anyway - this year I've noticed more and more races opening up a nonbinary category. Every time I've signed up for a race, I get to that question, pause, and just mark "female," since that's close enough. Obviously there are objections to this, and I've already read about someone who signed himself up as NB because, as he openly stated, it would be much easier to win his age group.

Fox bought me a coffee advent calendar, and today's was ... McCafe? I haven't been to a McDonald's in ages. I remember back in college when coffee shops were something they had in Paris and San Francisco, but not Podunk, Tennessee. You could get a hot, serviceable cup of coffee at Mickey D's. It was a damn sight better than the gas station swill that might have been sitting there cooking on the burner for six hours or longer. What I drank today was a pretty good, middle of the road coffee. Nothing special, but also not offensively bad or too bland. It benefited from a shot of cream.

I have not gotten around to making scones today, but definitely tomorrow. I'll be making cinnamon chip scones with a vanilla icing drizzle, and then a batch of savory cheddar ones when I can go to the store. I'll need Greek yogurt and a really sharp cheddar for that. Maybe some fresh herbs, too. I thought I had yogurt, but I guess I ate it all.

I normally take Garmin's sleep reports with a grain or two of salt, but the last few nights I have gotten less than an hour of deep sleep, and I feel like someone who is not getting a lot of deep sleep. I was a zombie yesterday and went to bed early - early even for me - and this morning I saw I'd gotten over nine hours of sleep ... with about 40 minutes of the deep kind. So, great. I don't know what's changed this week that I'm suddenly doing this but if it continues I'm going to look at starting a magnesium supplement and see if that helps.

The dealer who sold us our tractor has offered a pretty good deal on a winter maintenance job, so we took that in today. They'll replace the filters, change the oil, and do a once-over to check for any problems, make sure nothing is likely to fall off or explode. And they're going to wash it, LOL. We typically hose it off and clean it after using it extensively but that will be nice. I mean, if Fox just drags the road one afternoon we don't bother, but for things like our recent drainage ditch project it needs to have the stinky swamp mud cleaned off.

Feisal is going to be a sad kitty. I'm getting a wireless gaming mouse today. If you plug it in, it will charge, but unplugged it will run for about 60 hours. This has become an issue lately because he's decided the Most Fun Thing Ever is to jump on the desk and try to chew on my mouse cord. The fabric cover is torn and pulled in places because of this. The most recent version of this game is grabbing the cord and trying to take the entire mouse. Now, happily he only does this when I'm gaming or attempting to work, so it's not like he gets up there and chews on it when I'm gone. But it's still annoying as hell and he killed me a few times in Hollow Knight with his shenanigans.

Do any of you crochet or sew or something, or know someone who does? I kind of want a coffee cup sleeve but my sewing skills mainly apply to repairing things and sewing on buttons. In this, Year Two of the Pandemic, our Wawa is still asking that we not bring reusable cups, and I used to always bring my own cups. It's a small thing, but if I could at least not have to get a sleeve for the cup it would make me feel slightly better. I'll probably just find something on Etsy.

Did you ever eat something so lackluster that you wish you could get a calorie refund? We ate at a local Chinese and sushi place that's usually pretty good. Nothing spectacular - we're not talking about highly refined Asian cuisine and a Japanese sushi master - but tasty, plentiful food. Today it was just ... not up to snuff. Fox said the sushi rice was old, and I noticed the General Tzo's chicken was tough, like it had been reheated. The hot and sour soup had an off taste like they didn't have enough broth so they combined the tail-ends of several different kinds of soup stock. The hostess said something about she was sorry for today and next week it would be better, but the poor lady is always a bit soft-spoken and hard to hear. I know every Chinese buffet has off days but they're always disappointing when you hit one.

We dropped the tractor off to get a backhoe installed - it should be ready Monday or Tuesday. Of course I have to go back to the doctor again because doctor prefers to discuss results in person, go over your treatment plan, nonsensical medical speak yadda yadda, so I'm going to go find out what my treatment and possible surgical plan is for that cancer I don't have. I'm also going to do my weekly grocery shopping while I'm out because I'm getting tired of doing all this driving.

Today we discovered that Starbucks will actually make a green tea frapp that tastes like green tea. Just order it unsweetened. And according to a blog I read, if you ask for extra matcha it's even better, but at least unsweetened it doesn't taste like that sugar-bomb American crap people are always trying to pass off. The frapp base is already sweet on its own, so it doesn't need any more help. Oh and apparently if you get a berry cup swirl with it, that's a Dragon Frappucino, for those of you who weren't into the Unicorn.

Of course now I'm paranoid that the doctor saw something else on my imaging, but you'd think someone would have mentioned that by now. But logic and reason has never stopped my brain from finding a worst case scenario and running with it.

Zox of the day with other bracelets
And here's my Zox Of The Day - click to enbiggen - they recently released Declaration and a similar Valley Forge one called Independence in a very limited run on Monday. (People were, of course, whining about how limited they are.) I managed to snag both and today wore Declaration with a Pura Vida set, the Serenity Place Cat Rescue charity stack. I only recently got into Pura Vida, and between them, Zox, and now Rastaclat is sending me emails, I'm running out of wrist space.

An aluminum can of vending machine coffee from Japan

Fox's flight arrived a little early and he's home safe now. And he brought back a metric crap-ton of food! We have something like seven bags of Kit-Kats now, including sake, green tea, dark green tea, mixed white and dark chocolate, and coffee. I love matcha chocolate so I now have plenty of it. He even found these cakes from some high-end bakery that are absolutely delicious - soft matcha cake with a chocolate cream filling. Everything was pre-packaged so he had no issues with customs. Unlike me, bringing back a bunch of hot dogs from Iceland, but that's a story for another time.

He also bought me two bottles of vending machine coffee. Vending machines are everywhere in Tokyo, and they can buy good quality bottles of tea and coffee, unlike the machines here that vend mostly soda and occasionally water at twice the price of a coke. Boss Coffee is famous (or infamous) for a series of ads with Tommy Lee Jones. So, how is it?

It's pretty good! This particular kind if nice and strong, but without the acrid taste of Starbucks coffee. It's okay cold, but warming it up really improved it, for me. There's another bottle of a different brand, but I haven't opened it yet.

I also have several new additions to my collection of cell phone charms - no lucky poop this time, alas. But they are owls, so that's cool. It makes me wish I had something to clip them to, but my phone case doesn't really have anywhere to do that. One of the owls is a small embroidered plush which I have, of course, dubbed Mr. Soft Owl.
