This past week I've noticed that when I go outside early in the morning to put out the bird feeders, it's cooler. Not "cool," not yet, but during summer I usually walk out of my nice air-conditioned house and into an atmosphere like a sauna, even before dawn. Sometimes the weather station would already have a heat index posted when I got up. I know it will be some time before fall proper gets here but I feel cheered by the first cooler breezes and less humid mornings.

The tractor battery has died again, despite using a disconnect to prevent anything from draining it while it sits. This should be something that we'd get repaired but we've taken it in twice and they haven't found the problem. So today we're going to hopefully acquire a new, gel battery. The gel batteries have the added advantage of withstanding vibration better than regular lead acid ones. At the moment the tractor is a one-ton yard ornament. We actually had to drag it out of the back with the truck since the battery was so dead it wouldn't even take jumping off.

I haven't actually finished any art the last few days, but I did get back to running, though at shorter distances and easier paces than I would have. I even felt up to resuming weight lifting yesterday, so I think I am over whatever I had. The 10k is coming up shortly but I feel more than ready for it. I don't have any specific goals other than finishing, since I do run on trails for training, but have never raced on them, so I have no idea what my time will or should be like. That reminds me, I keep forgetting to order an Under Armor mask for running in case they require it. Need to do that.

So my main accomplishment the last couple of days has been roasting up some of my Seminole pumpkins, and getting to the next level of Hollow Knight. I defeated the first boss last night, then visited the Snail Shaman, and I'm ready to head to Greenpath today or this evening. I think Greenpath is where you meet Hornet and you need to defeat her to get the Mothwing Cloak, which will finally allow me to dash. I don't mind walking but if you have to go back and forth a lot for something it gets boring.

I'm also having to talk myself out of buying an art book for this game, though I do clearly need it in my collection at some point.

Speaking of insects, and I know spiders aren't bugs, but man, the spiders. Last year it seemed like there weren't any Orb Weavers to speak of, and now I have to carry an umbrella when I go outside to knock down webs. There were five in the yard before yesterday's rain.

:shudders: You talking about the spiders reminds me of my experience in GA with them.
