Just a little early morning silliness. I typically refer to them as panthers, as in "Florida Panther," or "Hey is that a panther?" or "Holy shit that's a panther, get in the car!"

I have not personally seen them here, but I have seen captures from trail cams in the area and once I found a very large cat track in the sand on the road. But I don't plan to go looking for one, either, and wouldn't say much about it if I did. There's always some asshole who wants to go out and kill things to prove his manhood or whatever.

I kind of wish I'd thought about this yesterday, so I could have posted it for Caturday. LOL.

I call 'em cougars

I've seen them twice in my life and both were when I was a little kid. Part of me wants to repeat the experience so I can see how cool they are as an adult ... the other part of me is good, thanks.

This is making me wonder where I picked up calling them "mountain lions," because not only are there no mountain lions in Illinois, there are no mountains.

I've used the top 4 terms interchangeably at various times.

I think the names are regional, aren't they? Here in California, we call them mountain lions. Second would probably be cougar, though I'm not entirely sure I've actually heard someone call them that.
