See You Real Soon
May. 10th, 2023 07:12 pmThis has been a pretty low-key Disney trip, especially with no running events to worry about. We didn't even hit the parks that much, though Fox wanted to ride Tron, and we did Epcot a couple of times because we just like it. We rode Guardians of the Galaxy, but I'm not sure I can really recommend it. With ride cars that can independently spin, and heavy use of screens and light effects, it was hard to even tell what was going on most of the time. There's a nifty bit where you spin around the moon and slingshot away, but it felt like it was far too long for the sheer sensory overload. I might go again and see if I can focus on something but I kind of hated it, honestly. The good part was the song - we lucked out and got Earth, Wind, and Fire's "September." After, I wasn't sick, but I had trouble walking because I felt drunk. Once the ground stopped spinning, I still had to be careful to not snap my head around too quickly or everything would swim in my vision.
It was a good trip for birds, though. We ate lunch by the lake when we arrived and got to see an Osprey dive and successfully catch a fish. The Purple Martins nesting at Epcot were out and active that evening. Out here at the campgrounds we've seen several Crows, Thrashers, Cardinals, wild Turkeys, and even a couple of Hawks. This afternoon I even got to see a Swallow-Tailed Kite circling low. There was an Egret fishing in the drainage canal behind our camper.
Anyway - it was more relaxing than anything and we head home tomorrow. It'll be nice to get back and return to routine. My sleep has been kind of bad and despite it being relaxing, I'm kind of tired. I probably need my normal bed, regular meals, proper hydration, and all the stuff I'm not doing now. I'll probably want to head out Friday for a little grocery run and get us some fresh stuff. I could kill for a good salad, though I think I may make myself some cilantro and lime rice and grill up a little steak and have protein bowls.
