Cats LOVE basil. Well, one of my cats adores the smell of fresh basil. I picked some for a stir-fry and was petting Feisal while waiting on some chicken to marinate. He started very closely smelling my hands, my arms, and the legs of my pants, making "butt face" the whole time. Then I went to pet him and he went ballistic on me. :( Normally I don't play rough with him but he grabbed my arm and started biting and kicking, claws out. He meant business.
So, note to self. Remember basil is related to mint, and catnip is a variety of mint, and that Feisal doesn't handle his high very well.
