This may only be interesting to me, but I'll be reading the rain gauge every two hours. I'll keep a running total here before posting my info to CoCoRaHS tomorrow, so I'm just going to update this entry until I go to bed.
8 am - 0.62" - emptied gauge and reported data, still raining
10 am - 0.94" - at the rate it's coming down now, I may need to empty the gauge and then add up my incremental readings
noon - 1.52" - emptied the gauge so I can continue taking more detailed measurements. I'll be adding the catch to my running total here.
2 pm - 1.71" - the rainfall rate has slowed down
4 pm - 1.95"
6 pm - 2.22"
8 pm - 2.37" - winds are picking up and getting gusty. I'm going to bed for now. Probably no more readings tonight.
8 am - 3.76" total. That makes 4.38" for the event so far.

Date: 2024-10-09 12:06 pm (UTC)I certainly find it interesting. Stay safe! I saw that you've taken reasonable precautions, but... it's a hurricane, do be careful of gusts/debris if you're in the zone for direct landfall. Also, thank you for participating in citizen science. π

Date: 2024-10-09 02:13 pm (UTC)I'm located near Jacksonville, so as of this morning, we're pretty far away from the worst of it. I'm also far enough inland that storm surge isn't as much of a problem. We are, however, inside the Lower Basin of the St Johns River, so some of the little no-name creeks on our property will flood.
