The cats killed a mouse last night - just in time for their first quarter performance reviews, so I guess everyone gets a treat bonus.
Actually I walked past it several times early this morning and kept thinking, "Some of their toys look like hell, I should get them some new stuff to play with." I get up pretty early and typically only turn one lamp on, since I don't need a lot of light to drink coffee and do yoga. I mean, technically, it was a cat toy. Was. I'm also thankful they didn't decide to show it to me last night and drop it on my face while I was asleep. Sheba once woke me up meowing, and had a still-living mouse in her jaws. It's two in the morning, sweetie, I don't need a snack.
I've still got a few things to do before we leave for Disney, including trying to predict Gideon's special cookie for April. Last year it was a vanilla bean cookie with pecan praline pieces and candied orange peel, and it was terrific, so I'm hopeful they'll do that one again.
Speaking of which, I need to bake some graham cookies today - we'll want something to snack on before we go. I tried several times to make graham crackers, but they never come out as crispy as store-bought crackers. In fact, they're pretty dense. So I gave up on the cracker part and just started treating them like shortbread cookies. Still pretty good, though. I put peanut butter on mine.
