Take a Load Off, Fanny

I finally broke down and bought a rucking plate carrier, after trying several backpacks and stuff that were just super uncomfortable for carrying much of any weight. I've been waffling over this for well over a year and today I got a discount code so I just ... got it.

In the immortal words of Pliny the Elder, "Fuck it, let's do this shit."*

I hope everyone's keeping warm out there. Our efforts at log splitting are already paying off, and I'm enjoying a cozy fire post-workout. Crowley's enjoying both the fire and a warm hooman lap to sleep on.

Rucking will be a great preparation for backpacking, obviously. And I think going on regular rucks is going to help my running as well. I know rucking is this trendy thing in certain health and fitness circles right now, but as long as humans have been walking and carrying stuff, we've known that it's hugely beneficial to be able to carry a lot of stuff over a long distance.
