I Have No Initiative To Roll For
Nov. 25th, 2024 03:26 pmI'm finally on Day Two of Over the Mountain. I don't know why it didn't quite click until now but I spent the morning writing up the last encounter of the day, rolled for day two, and looked ahead to start planning some of the community meetings and "dungeons." Not sure yet what I'll do with dungeons, but I think I get to try one on day seven. Honestly, where has solo RPG gaming been all this time? I mean, I know there were one-shot solo games in the 80s but I feel dense just now finding this is a thing. It's also fun to train my less-used writer muscles, and I'm hoping it makes me a little more interesting to engage with in some of the other RP/stories I have going.
Probably going to ask for a dice mat/storage box for Christmas, since I'm using my current set more, and I'll probably buy other sets because RAVEN BRAIN LOVES SHINY MATH ROCKS, THEY GO CLICK CLACK
I love how popular D&D has gotten. I especially love it coming from the time when it was part of a Satanic Panic and you know, D&D was going to turn us all into demon worshippers and make us kill ourselves, or whatever other nonsense was floating around. I'm sure there's still a monumental amount of nonsense, but joke's on them because there's a fat dragon Hallmark tree ornament. And nothing says Christmas like a chonky fire lizard.
This is my taper week for Space Coast, so I have two more workouts this week, with a shakeout run Saturday that I doubt I'll be able to do. I'm upping my carbs, and I'll probably need to make a short grocery run out Wednesday. I may make another on Monday, but that Monday I also need to start adjusting my diet for colonoscopy prep, so that's fun. *eyeroll* Might as well get your freebie testing done while you still can.
But then, that week I'd be taking "off" anyway to recover from Space Coast before resuming training for Dopey, the second week in January, so it all works out decently for me. I feel like if I just keep a high-ish mileage schedule up I'll be fine for Marathon Weekend, I just then need to figure out if I wanna do Gate Rive Run in March (90% yes) and when I want to do my 35-mile self-supported "fun run" ultra. Usually February has good weather for that.
