Winter - Florida Not Included
Dec. 15th, 2022 08:33 amThe cold front we've been waiting for is finally arriving. The weather station says it's 67 right now, but the breeze coming in feels much cooler. It's raining, though the forecast is for that to stop around noon and the temps to start dropping. So right now it's rainy and overcast, cool, and windy. In other words, wonderful.
I was planning on making us a small "yule log" type cake, one with a matcha sponge cake and a chocolate filling and glaze. However, Fox was browsing the Publix bakery online ordering page and found ... a red velvet cheesecake cake. It's literally a cheesecake topped with a red velvet cake, and I want it. You have to order them in advance, so I just need to decide when I want to serve this gloriously decadent bastard up. I might go ahead and order it for pickup this weekend.
I've been working on a short comic lately and experimenting with using Stable Diffusion to generate my backgrounds. It's going well, actually. I actually enjoy painting backgrounds, the problem being that I can spend an inordinate amount of time on them. Fox has showed me a comic he reads where the artist takes photos around her town and uses those as her backgrounds, which kind of gave me the idea. I've used photos as backgrounds on some illustrations before, either just pasting in a photo I'd taken, or editing it lightly to add some blur or something. Yesterday I was trying to get SD to add some Japanese-style lanterns in a scene, but it kept generating what looked like traffic bollards, so I just left that out.
I need to get back to the longer comic I was working on, but for the last few months my brain has been a bowl of mashed potatoes. I would really like to get some of my focus and memory and ... yanno, brainpower back, but I guess that's not going to happen.
I'm now working my way through Little Nightmares' DLC, and while it isn't quite as polished as the main game it's really pretty engaging. The Runaway Kid's movements are a little awkward. I made it to the second chapter, but it was late and I was having some problems throwing a Nome at a hanging lever so I went to bed. I'm also SUPER STOKED about HADES TWO. Like hopping around the house chanting "HADES TWO HADES TWO HADES TWO HADES TWO HADES TWO." And finally I was amused last night by a story from either PlayStation or Xbox or someone stating that their Stray players had meowed a total of a billion times. That's a lot of meowing. :3
I'm getting my new credit card today, so I can finally straighten out my shit with Backerkit. I don't understand how this happened, but it did. I was backing a project with them. It ended and successfully funded. Backerkit then took almost four days to try to collect my payment, and they actually tried to run my card about two hours after I had closed the account. Why the hell did they wait so long to charge me? That's what I don't understand.
My only major project for today aside from baking scones is to figure out how to trim my hair. I can do the side shave easily enough, but the stuff on top is getting a bit too long, and I really don't want to go in for an appointment. I'm honestly kind of thinking of waiting until spring and just cutting the longer stuff down to one inch with a Wahl clipper. It can get shaggy in winter.
