Pushing It

My appointment was at Target Optical, which like every other eye/eyeglass place in the US is owned by Luxotica. Whether the corporate change to the appointment system was Target's or Lux's I don't know, but the appointment I made last year was for whatever reason treated like an automatic one the computer made, and as I didn't bother phoning in a conformation, I didn't have an appointment. I know that makes exactly NO sense, but it's a corporate thing, and we all know how much sense those decisions can make. The lady who I spoke to indicated that I was far from the first person to be in this situation, and I'm rescheduled for Monday. That gives me a little time to work on my jumpiness with the puff of air test.

Anyway, I'm going to get up tomorrow and make some yeast rolls ahead of the in-laws coming to visit. I haven't made this particular recipe in a long time, but I used to make these a lot when I lived in Kentucky. I've spent today running around like a cat with its ass on fire, and will be doing the same tomorrow but at least I'll have the weekend to get my Zen back.

I have some long training runs coming up, but I'll also have free time to draw and catch up on that. So that will be nice - I feel weird NOT drawing. I feel like I should maybe start carrying a bag so I can have a small sketchbook and pen on me when I go out.

For now I'm just tired. It's a bit early to go to bed, even for me, and I go to bed with the proverbial chickens. But I get up with them, too, and I enjoy my early mornings, watching the sun rise while I have coffee and the cats run around. They all had a major case of the zoomies this morning, and Sheba's kind of got them right now, which is odd for her. She likes to just pile up in my lap, but right now she's playful. And Feisal's very curious about the windows, so maybe we'll have a wildlife sighting tonight? LOL maybe the bear will show up while Mom & Dad are here tomorrow!

And finally - a new evening yoga sequence. I'm going to try this one out for a few nights and see if I want to replace the chandra namaskar with it.

Ugh, appointment fail. I've never lived around a Target with an optical shop in it - in fact, I had no idea they even existed lol :P The guy I've been seeing used to have his own practice but is now located in a Walmart. He & his small staff have always been awesome. He even remembers I have problems when my eyes are dilated, so doesn't do it. He can easily see everything he needs to though, so there's really no need. I just wish he could go with me when I get glasses because they never listen to me. He wears glasses himself but I know he never had a problem because he's the eye dr!!

I'd like to find someone like that, but I doubt there's anyone around close-ish that takes my insurance. The people at this Target one are pretty friendly, so I'm okay with it.

I thought about it recently and I've been going to the optometrist for 35 years. Every. Freaking. Year. I was eight when they figured out I was nearsighted and needed glasses. So maybe that's why I'm starting to get sick of it. :D I'm starting to wonder if I'm too old for lasik, or if otherwise I might not be suitable. I might ask my doc.

I've been wearing glasses since I was in first grade due to my astigmatism. I did get contacts when I was a teen. Happily wore them until my son was born then I became allergic & intolerant to them. I would love to get rid of my glasses but I don't think I'm a good candidate for LASIK, plus I'm not sure I want to go through it. I'd worry about constant dry eyes or a complication. I've heard too many horror stories, even of people taking their own lives because of it. But many people have good experiences with it & I've personally known some. Another layer for me is I get seasonal allergies that impact my eyes at times severely.

I don't think age is a factor with LASIK because I believe it's essentially the same type of procedure they do on the elderly to correct glaucoma. Plus, technology has come a long way. The procedure my great-grandma got when I was a young girl was much more invasive & required actual surgery whereas today's are done with a quick laser in an office. Definitely doesn't hurt to inquire about it & go for a consult.
