Choke Points
Among other things I needed to do today, I dropped off the gas-powered weed trimmer at a small engine repair shop in town. Fox can do some basic repairs on it, but whatever ails it is beyond his abilities, and it may simply be at the end of its life. Though the guy at the shop said that mine was exactly the same as the one he uses at home, so I now have hope that I won't need to buy a new one. As a bonus, I got loved on by their shop cat, Spooky. There was another shop cat that's less affectionate but very talkative, and he sat on the roof and quacked at me but would not come get pets.
The man at the shop also said that he's got a stump grinding attachment for his, which sounds like something I ought to look for. I have a tiller and a blade head but man, a stump grinder would be dead useful.
I did my first mowing of the season yesterday, and part of the trimming. Fox helped out with starting the garden. He manned "the dragon," and burned off the overgrown brush from winter, and I was on hose duty to make sure the fire didn't go anywhere it's not supposed to. We were able to get two beds tilled before the motor gave out, but that's enough for me to start setting out potatoes after the soil settles a little. Probably going to set out potatoes, pie pumpkins, Florida 91 tomatoes, and herbs.

So while I was typing that up, I went to do something else, and when I opened my Chromebook to finish it, the GPU died. That was Monday afternoon. I'm finishing this on my desktop PC after basically forgetting about it except for a few times when I thought, I don't really want to do a lot of typing on my phone, it's annoying.
The small engine place easily fixed the trimmer, and he cleaned the carb and everything and it's like fifty bucks. Yay! I'm torn between going this afternoon so I can start on the garden, and waiting until Saturday when Fox can go with me so he can meet Spooky the Shop Cat. I know it's important to have priorities but one of my top priorities is almost always "pet kitties."
I spent some time yesterday just browsing eBay for Zox straps and I have a pretty good idea of how much to list things for. Some of my "regular" straps are old enough that I can probably ask twenty bucks each, and I have some rare ones that can go for thirty or forty. I'm also going to sell a couple of bundles of nine straps each - no picking and choosing, just buy the bundle. I have no idea how quickly any of this will sell, and I'm inclined to add an "OBO" to the listings just to get them out of here.
I always seem to forget how busy spring can be. I don't mind exactly, I just was sitting in bed last night wondering why the hell I was so tired, and I realized that between going for a run, signing up for RunDisney, and doing all my normal tasks, I'd been going all day with no downtime or breaks. And I typically split up tasks across the week to try to have household chores and yard/garden stuff done by lunchtime, then afternoon is usually for weightlifting, art time, or gaming. Seems like yesterday I just got back from a tempo run and just launched into housekeeping as soon as I'd stopped sweating.
RunDisney went smoothly for us and we're signed up for the Two-Course Challenge this fall - a 10k and half marathon. I saw a lot of posts on Reddit about glitches that people had to try to work around and the extra time they spent meant their races of choice were sold out by the time they got to the pay screen. Apparently the shirt size drop-down wasn't working for some, not populating size choices at all, then saying that you have to select a shirt size to continue. Fox is planning to submit time, though I'm not sure I'm going to bother. He thinks I should submit my Gate River Run, but I contend that I shouldn't since 15k isn't a distance they say they accept. Fox says a human isn't checking these unless you're trying to get into the elite corrals and I should do it anyway. I also feel like it matters less since they fixed the major choke point between the Swan & Dolphin and Hollywood Studios, and we no longer need to try to get thousands of runners down a small sidewalk meant for three people to walk abreast. Having an earlier corral was better because you weren't needing to try to run in and among groups of walkers and runners with significantly slower paces than you. Nothing against either walkers or slow runners, either.
I'm kind of thinking to go get my trimmer, but then this would be the third day in a row I've had no time to do any drawing.

Oh, I love shop cats!!! Aren't they the best sometimes??! It's the highlight of my day when I come across one.
Yes, stump grinders do come in handy!
What makes Florida 91 tomatoes different than run-of-the-mill ones?
I used to have someone on my f'list that was into Zox straps. Hope you get lots of interest in yours & they are able to find new homes!

This particular shop cat was exactly what you'd expect - spoiled rotten and extremely friendly, and of course none of the guys actually claim that it's "their" cat. They also refer to her as the shop manager.
Florida 91 is a hybrid that's been designed to thrive in heat and humidity without cracking, and it resists most of the common tomato pests and fungus. Apparently it's meant to do well in zones 9A and B and will have you up to your eyeballs in tomatoes by the end of summer. I'd tried some Roma style tomatoes and they did okay, but I had not really experimented with growing tomatoes that much. Fox seems to be all for the idea, and I'll probably put him to work helping me sauce and can them if we end up with a big harvest.
I'm going to try listing a few of my rare Zox today and see what kind of traffic they get. Apparently I have some very unusual ones, or people just don't sell off these straps, because I can't find them online at all.

That makes sense about the special variety of tomatoes!
