Crowley is about thirteen years old and I guess he's earned the right to be a Grumpy Old Man. He's enjoying being the only cat, and he's especially attached to me since I bottle-raised him, so I'm "mom." I have no problem with him just having the run of the house.
And yeah, I think just getting it out there has helped. I know in my brain that things like "it was my fault" or "she just had a stressful day/life" are nonsense, but I still kind of half believe them. Plus I've found accounts from a lot more people who dealt with the same things.
Japan is great about picking up. I have no idea why people can't just pick up their own stuff, but I guess they think it's either no big deal, someone else's problem, or "I don't live out here, why should I care?"
