What I strongly suspect is he came around that corner in the dark and didn't know that these ditches are six feet deep in some places. We get a LOT of runoff in the rainy season since this is all on a downhill.

But he was still going too fast. When I came back later a tow truck had pulled it out, but they were winching it onto the flatbed because he apparently *really* messed up his front end.
