We had to replace a weather station recently for the same reason. We were able to clean up the sensor and get a little more life out of it, but then the solar panel and battery pack went bad, so it was dropping offline when it wasn't fully sunny. I'd guess the extremes of Florida weather aren't kind to them.
The nearest station used to be about two miles from here, but the man who owned it took it offline and it hasn't come back. He's an older guy so I don't know if something happened to him or what. Then the next nearest is about six miles away at an elementary school. They keep theirs in good working order, but they're also in a rather different sort of area. It's hilly here and we're in a hollow, where the school is on a higher elevation and in a flatter area.
